Calvary Compass – December 10, 2024 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

 Dear Friends of Calvary,

After all that shoveling that we did, Mother Nature has decided to wash it all away. There will be lots of skiers and sledders disappointed.

Next Sunday is Music Sunday. Denise, the Senior Choir and Rev. Kerry have prepared a wonderful service for all of us. The children will be singing one piece and they will also be staying up in the sanctuary for the entire service.

Thank you to all who purchased some items at the mini bazaar last Sunday. So far, our grand total for the main bazaar and mini bazaar is $ 6,151.20. There are still some extra funds that will be coming in for some frozen food.

There will be a Blue Christmas Worship service on Tuesday, December 17th at 7:00 pm. It is a quiet reflective service of prayers and readings.

Please note that the office will be closed on Friday as Kim is taking a vacation day. Nancy will check for messages.

Worship Services are all live-streamed:

Psalm for the Week:

PSALM 126: 4 - 6  ( from the New Revised Standard Version update Edition)

            Restore our fortunes, O Lord,

like the watercourses in the Negeb.

May those who sow in tears

                reap with shouts of joy.

            Those who go out weeping,

                bearing the seed for sowing,

shall come home with shouts of joy,

                carrying their sheaves.

 Prayer for the Week:

            God of all the universe,

your mercy exceeds human imposed borders and

boundaries that have kept us from you.

You never give up on us, even on those whom

we call enemies. Open our hearts to your ways

that we may be transformed by your grace. Amen.

Prayer focus for this week:  Those that live rough on our city streets.
